Okay  — stay with me on this one. Your body isn't broken. It's been doing exactly what it was designed to do: protect you. The problem is, it's been in survival mode for so long that it's prioritizing cortisol over progesterone, and "make a baby" is the very first thing your nervous system shuts down when it thinks you're under threat.

You can't fall asleep at night, then you crash by 3 PM. That's not personality. That's a cortisol curve flipped upside down.

Your cycle shifts when life gets hard.

Listen — every fertility account on Instagram is going to tell you to "manage your stress." I'm not going to do that to you. Here's what's actually happening:

Your body makes progesterone (the hormone that holds a pregnancy) and cortisol (your stress hormone) from the same raw material — pregnenolone. When stress is chronic, your body steals from the progesterone pool to keep cortisol high. It's called the pregnenolone steal, and it's why high-stress women have low-progesterone luteal phases, spotting, short cycles, and early miscarriages even with "normal" labs.

Then there's the mineral piece. Stress burns through magnesium, sodium, and potassium faster than you can replace them. Low minerals = exhausted adrenals = more cortisol = less progesterone. It's a loop.

We don't fix this by telling you to take a bath. We fix it by replenishing the minerals, regulating the nervous system, and proving to your body that it's safe to make a baby.

What's missing — and how we figure it out together:
  • Mineral status — specifically your sodium/potassium ratio. This is your stress signature. An HTMA shows it in 15 minutes and tells me whether your adrenals are wired-up, burnt-out, or somewhere in between. It's the first window in.
  • A real progesterone read in the luteal phase. Not "your labs are normal." A timed luteal progesterone, looked at against your ovulation date. Most women I see have been told they're fine when they're sitting at 6 ng/mL.
